Creator, Father & Friend

Our relationship with God is very important. How do we see Him?

He is the Creator. We are told that he created all that is seen and unseen and what an incredible creation! Our planet is so beautiful and if you think of the variety of flora and fauna, you can see, if you want to, that only a superhuman all-powerful designer could have done this. I don’t believe in happy accidents. We don’t know what is ‘out there’ in our universe, but if you look at the surrounding planets you won’t find any evidence of the beauty and variety that we have here on Earth. God shows his love through his creation. It is a great gift to us. We should be looking after it as the stewards he wanted us to be. All thanks and praise should be given to him and I daily thank him and ask for his forgiveness of what has happened to it and his help with healing the wounds we have inflicted on it.

God is Our Father. He is not like an earthly father because his love is unconditional and he wants us near him and loving him no matter what. We need to treat him as our perfect father with the respect, devotion and honour that is rightfully his. We can turn to him whenever we need him and his love is constant and unwavering. His love is expressed through his Holy Spirit, connecting us all with him and with each other.

God is our friend. He sent his son Jesus so that we might know him better and in this way we can turn to Jesus, knowing that he is man and God and pour out our problems and worries. He wants to know what we think and feel and engage with us on a personal level. His is not a distant God, but a God that longs for connection with us. We can talk to him about anything, big or small, and he is interested and willing to guide us. He wants to be there for us in the good times and the bad. If you think of how you treat your friends, that is how Jesus wants to be treated. He should be constantly in our thoughts and like a good friend we should keep in touch and not neglect him.

John 15:15

No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
